k-8 Library fundraiser
library update
As many of you know, our library was out of use for the 2020-2021 school year. The students were not able to share spaces or reading materials, and the library became our school’s triage space for COVID-19 related issues. The PA was excited to partner with the school at the start of this school year to get the library back on track, and, now that all of our students are vaccinated, it can again become the heart of the school.
In February 2020 the PA approved an initiative for a much needed library update, and shortly after, it was put on hold so PA funds could go to support the Owl Fund and outdoor classrooms. Over the past two years, the plan for the library update has changed slightly. Due to supply chain issues or cost, some of the items we intended on purchasing are no longer available to us. Also, we saw the need for more shelving for the Middle School fiction section so that the school’s lovely picture book and the expanding Middle School sections, can be properly displayed. But even with these changes, the goal of a clean, cozy, flexible space remains.
So far, using PA funds, we have made the following improvements:
4 new grey swivel chairs from Crate & Kids
1 maple modrocker from Igloo Play
A new clock from Schoolhouse Electric
Framing of all the artwork from authors who visited Northside
A new magnetic wooden easel for sharing messages
Some decor items including a globe and some colorful bits
4 6’ tall bookshelves for the Middle School Fiction books (coming soon)
A wooden pendant light for librarian’s desk (to be installed)
Some K-8 Families have also donated items for the library:
6 vegan leather floor cushions from Gathre
Framed artwork by Charlotte Strick
1 vegan leather ottoman from Gathre (coming soon)
Uniform Signage from George and Willy (coming soon)
How can you help?
The PA can only accomplish these projects by fundraising – something that has been hard to do these past years without the "traditional" galas, bake sales, and movie nights. If the library is one of your child’s favorite spaces, please consider donating to the cause!
$20 buys a storage bin
$25 buys a plant
$50 buys a stool
$75 buys one small floor cushion
$200 buys a cozy pouf or large floor cushion
$225 buys an ottoman
A donation in any amount helps!
Let’s get the space cozy for our kids so the school can focus on filling it with books! Thank you for your support!
