Every class at Williamsburg Northside has a class representative to serve as a liaison between the Parent Association (PA), teachers, and the parents/guardians in your class. The PA is looking for one or two parents from each classroom to fill these positions. Serving as a Class Parent is a fun and easy way to be involved in the school community and only takes up a few hours of your time at various points throughout the year.

WHAT DOES A CLASS PARENT DO?

Class Parents attend PA meetings and communicate relevant information to fellow classroom parents about PA events. Class Parents also work with teachers to coordinate classroom potlucks, shares, or other classroom community gatherings. Specifically, the 2018/19 Class Parent PA responsibilities include:

1. Teacher holiday gifts (December) - Donation collection and gift and card purchase.

2. Annual Spring Gala and Auction (February) - Class basket theme, basket donation and money collection, basket display.

3. Teacher appreciation (May) - Donation collection, gift and card purchase, presented to teachers on Teacher Appreciation Day.

Class Parents are also responsible for sending out communications regarding all other PA events which can be viewed on the PA calendar here. The PA and Class-Parent Coordinator will keep all Class Parents up-to-date on what needs to be communicated and when in this regard. Email templates are provided to make each communication minimally time consuming.

I'M READY TO SIGN UP

Would you like to nominate yourself to be a Class Parent? Go for it!

I'M INTERESTED BUT WANT TO HEAR MORE

Please email Erica Bletsoe, the PA class-parent coordinator at ericabletsoe@icloud.com or the WNS PA at wnspa@willnorth.org with any questions. We are happy to have a call or a coffee to discuss the role further.

WHAT IS THE CLASS PARENT NOMINATION PROCESS?

At the end of the summer, the PA will email all parents/guardians in each classroom with information about the role of Class Parent. At that point, any parent/guardian at WNS may volunteer themselves. The position is given to the first individual to sign up. If a second volunteer comes forward, the PA Class Parent Coordinator will ask the volunteer if they are interested in sharing the role.
